2012 Scholar-Athlete Awards Ceremony and Brunch
The Seattle Chapter 2012 Scholar-Athlete Awards Ceremony and Brunch
will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at CenturyLink
Field at 10am.
Each year, the Seattle chapter awards scholarships to local Scholar-Athletes.
The process begins at the end of the season when athletes are nominated
by their coaches. Each school is represented by two players: a back
and a lineman.
A selection committee consisting of former coaches, players and administrators
then perform the difficult task of narrowing the list down to four backs
and four linemen. At our annual Awards Ceremony, one back and one lineman
receive a Scholar-Athlete Scholarship of $2000. Each of the remaining
six finalists receive a scholarship of $500.
This year's guest speaker is Dave Wyman, former Seahawk, and co-host of the Seahawks pre- and post-game shows on 710 ESPN Seattle. He was drafted in the second round in 1987 and spent nine seasons in the NFL with the Seahawks and Broncos. He was a Sporting News All-American and All-Pac 10 linebacker at Stanford, where he received a degree in communications and is a member of the university's Athletic Hall of Fame.
